this is what I'm trying to find out also b/c I would really like to swap the 66RFE into my truck. from what it sounds like it should bolt up but might require the 2500/3500 driveshaft.

Bellhousing bolt pattern is different, Case is longer, and your trucks TCM won't work with it.

I have a Maggie waiting to go in to my '05, and I already shit the trans with just a program, exhaust and modified ignition.

I am on the fence to go with a PATC, Sharadon, or an ATS trans.

PATC guarantees 500hp, Sharadons Stage III is currently handling 750whp on thier 4x4 Rumblebee, and ATS says 1000hp with thier billet 3 clutch converter.

PATC is $2600 with a billet single clutch converter, Sharadon is $2900, and the ATS is $3500 with the 3 stage verter. However, the ATS trans is $1750, and the PATC Billet verter is $750 versus ATS verter for $1350.

I'm kind of leaning toward the ATS, with the PATC verter and sonnax line pressure booster.

Urggghhh. I know a few locals running the ATS stuff in thier diesels and love it. However the Sharadon guys are making BIG Power on 4wd Hemi's. PATC, well I kind of think they might be suppling the internals to Sharadon .

Southern Hot Rod makes some badass transmission!!!

It's called the Viking. I believe it's good up to 1000hp!

They do a badass NAG1, which is found in the cars, and based on a Mercedes transmission.

Easy way to build a monster trans for the 300 challenger and chargers, is to use the OEM Mercedes internals. Supposedly, thats what all the NAG1 builders do.

The Chrysler 45RFE, and 545RFE, is based on the old school Torqueflites, albeit with several modern modifications.

I rebuilt my trans using all Alto Red Eagle frictions and made some pump pressure mods about 3 months ago. I am making 470HP at the wheels and everything is still together.

I'm with kay9, downshifts are the hardest on the transmission. Upshifts are not that bad. Of course excessive power causes problems. I don't have much info on who builds the 545rfe but these guys do ^^^ That purple trans above is the only one I've seen that's built to handle high hp.
