Also 2 of my buddies have bought '11 Sports this summer so i got to do test driving again and again no difference. One of them just happen to get 3.92 but didnt get the lsd...doh! Other buddy was in the position I was, crew with 3.55 or quad with 3.92 and he got the crewcab wth 3.55. We've ran em for fun from 20 and 30 up and he'll jump me a truck and put another truck on me by 80...but he's stock and I'm stock plus 37s :-)
The gears never were a big deal to me because regaurdless what was stock, 4.56 and a locker would be going in anyhow!

For the Nav I have the 430N. I finally got to play with the 730n in a truck my buddy test drove over night. I thought it was fancier and more confusing lol. Being that the 430 in is about a grand cheaper and easier to operate, I'd get the 430n.
I'm with you.... In my area, the 3:92 was tough to find, and the truck I wanted had the 3:55, so that's what I got. Now if I had found two equal trucks except the gearing, I would have chosen the 3:92, but have not been disappointed with the 3:55. I tow quite a bit in the summer (6k lb travel trailer) and have never found myself wishing I got the 3:92.

Some are more passionate about the gearing than others around here you will find. Is it a "must"? For some people it is, but you have to decide what you need and if you think it is a "must".

3:55 gears if you like TC unlocking on most hills, worse if you add wind. If you like transmission down shifting more than it should. Towing or not.

3:92s if you don't like the above.

When have any of you that like your 3:55 gears hear anybody on this or any other site looking to swap thier 3:92s for 3:55s? I have not seen a post on that request. Simply put...The Ram is a happier truck with 3:92s. My opinion is in 4x4s. Can't comment of 4x2s.

LOL, you state this as if 3.55 gears are horrible. Those of us with 3.55 gears are stating that we are happy with our trucks and the difference between 3.92 and 3.55 was not as important to us as it is to others.

To the OP I would say drive both and see how much of a difference it makes in your mind. Everyone here has an opinion but the only one that counts is yours.

BTW, I have not experienced any of the things stated above in my truck with 3.55 gears.

We have to agree to disagree on this one. But one has to wonder why there are posts on swaping 3:55s to 3:92s and not 3:92s to 3:55s. I have a strong opinion on this issue because I don't want new Ram buyers to be disapointed in thier new Ram. I made this mistake, lived with it one year, corrected my mistake the following year. I have owned both Rams back to back, yes its my opionion, 3:55 gears don't belong in a 4x4 Ram.

my 3.92s came with a limited slip differential, which was the deciding factor for me. Hate the idea of one wheel spinning when accelerating from a stop, when in the snow or rain. It would happen to an suv I had, every time it was wet out and I would try and take off, one wheel would be sinning and the other did nothing to help out.

Thanks everyone for the advise. Afyer 2 hours at the dealer searching for the right truck we found out there arent many 3.92 left or with nav. From all the responses it sounds like 3.55 is ok but 3.92 would be ideal so i guess I can install 3.92 down the road. I got to use the 430 nav which isn't bad. Im trading in an 09 wrangler with the RER nav and I like the display better but don't know if its worth the extra money so the nav will have to be installed down the road also. The one im getting does have the touch screen and u connect so nav will be a simple swap after i find one at a good price. Thanks again
