I took off the stock muffler and tail pipe with the reso, added a peice of piping to my magnaflow since it's to short. Something like 10'' of piping. Made a new tail pipe that dump right after the axle.

After everything was done, my catback cost me 300$ CAD with install.

My setup it like a catback. Somewhat like this Magnaflow catback, but mine goes over the axle and dump right there.

I've had the 18" for a year now, and love it.

orignally i wanted to do just a muffler swap but did want to spend the money on the mufflex ($239) vs the 18" magnaflow ($58). i ordered the 3" single i/o in the center/ offset configuration. after we removed the stock muffler and tail pipe and installed the magna i found that:
1. the magna was obviously shorter
2. we couldnt get the tail pipe and the magna to be in line with each other. in retrospect i should have ordered the offset / offset.
i needed to get a 3" "s" pipe bent to align the two. after having much difficulty finding someone to bend 3" pipe for me, i opted for just a 90 degree turn down after the magna infront of the rear axel. i was afraid that it was still going to be to loud so i saved the stock tail pipe. after about 3 days of driving, i decided that i liked it and loved the fact that you couldnt see my tail pipe. it was only a single so its not like there was anything to show off. it has the right amount of sound for me but i dont make the neighbors crazy when i come home from work after 12am.

Freightrain, the truck sounds great! Such a deeper, throatier, meaner sound than the stock. Did you leave stock resonators and do a simple muffler swap or is it from the muffler back?? Any drone noticeable at highway cruising?

Just the muffler swap, didn't mess with anything else. No drone what so ever

Awesome, seems like the perfect setup for what I am looking for. You have a part# or is it a general muffler? I looked on magnaflows site but didn't really find anything.

Judging from videos the dodm80 sounds the best imo (mufflex's loudest option), will that pass inspection though? since its a y pipe replacement and not exactly a muffler?

On mine i have the Magnaflow 12259.

It's a 5x8x18 muffler, center/offset setup.

I just did a strait muffler swap on mine with the 14" magnaflow. If I had known more at the time I would have replaced the Y pipe as well at the same time. Otherwise, the stock stainless exhaust with the dual tips is almost as good as it gets anyway. I left the resonators on, with plans to maybe take them off later... I decide to keep mine on. Inside the cab when I'm driving alone I dont mind it... however, when I ride and carry people with me, 4 grown men, plus gear, the truck has to work harder to stay at highway speeds and is what I would consider loud inside the cab... especially when the damn MDS kicks in.
