Default Paint Oxidation - 1999 Forest Green

Hi Guys. I have a buddy with a 1999 Forest Green Ram 1500. The paint on the hood and roof have oxidized to an almost fully gray color. I have heard in the past where some manufacturers have offered to repaint your vehicle if that happens due to issues with the original paint. My folks, for example, had their 1997 Black Ford F150 repainted by Ford about 5 years ago for the same issue. Has anyone had any luck getting this done with the Forest Green?

Thanks for your time.

Dave

I doubt they'd do anything. The truck is over 10 years old and fading is a function of environment, not paint quality. I'd try some rubbing compound and a buffer to see if you can't bring the clearcoat back.

I have a 1999 Concorde that my wife drives. Bought new and turned 50.000 miles this past feb. The paint on it is excellent yet. Is garaged in the winter, but out in the summer when the stall becomes my wife's gardening area. I suppose Atlanta gets more hot sun, though.

ditto, weather takes a toll on paint, espesially when its exposed to the sun in hot areas for years on end
