Thanks good information GT! Who'd a thought that an extended 'ignition on' without starting would throw those codes and yield those results!

Sounds like you get the kind of service I'm used to getting.

Oh, I'm sure that was directed to me. But I'm just speaking my opinion and we all have the right to do so. And no, I don't have a halo over my head but no one does, including the dealers. But I look out for myself just like the dealer does. If the dealer would respect me then I have no problem respecting them. I respected their opinion and gave them the benefit of the doubt for weeks but that was not getting the original problem fixed. Because that was when they realized that if they keep blowing me off I would leave and they wouldn't have to do anything. But if they can't be honest with me then why should I have to be so honest with them? So I can get screwed again. I don't think so. So who screwed who first? Which came 1st the chicken or the egg?

I don't work for a dealership, but I was an F&I and sales manager for many years. Dealerships are not the buildings or products, they are the people that work there- from the lot porter to the GM. Everybody has a bad day now and then, yes? I don't understand the animosity that is so prevalent that they are called 'stealerships' or worse. To me, that is a sure sign of an immature mind.

Perhaps the dealer was trying to go above and beyond- I don't know. In any case, I'm noticing more and more the desire to screw the dealer at all costs- especially from the younger generation.

Had a bad experience? Go elsewhere and let your wallet do the talking. I had a crappy buying experience when I was looking for a truck, and the bottom line is that my dealer won my business.

Rant over- last thing I want to see is this forum decline and decay because of a loss of members with dealership experience- experience which is provided for free to any who ask.
Totally classy answer......well said.

I bought a new Ford in 1975 and did not notice that the brake lights did not work. I drove it home that's when I found out (wife told me). I carried it back the same day I bought it and it was a blown fuse dealer pitched a fit about having to replace the fuse. I just let him talk then asked him if my lights were going to be fixed. They put the fuse in and I never went back.

Bought a new 1973 Toyota with the 18R engine and the warranty back then was 12,000 miles. At 23,000 miles the head had to be replaced and the mechanic was a great guy and replaced the head at no cost. The valves in this engine had to be adjusted every 3,000 miles, but that info was not in the owners manual so I did not know it. My point? there is good and bad everywhere as we see in the news today.
