Default How do you know that you might live in a bad neighborhood

I was over in the next town from mine today, i had to go to my credit union
While i was there, i decided to stop at a local breakfast cafe

Right away i noticed the prices were cheaper than in my own town
Then i noticed that everyone besides myself knew each other & would stop eating & greet each other like old friends, hand shakes, hugs & all
Then i watched as people were running past wearing shorts & t-shirts, & checking something on their wrists
Then i noticed people parking their vehicles & leaving the windows down & going into the shops at the mini mall, near the cafe
I had the feeling that i was watching a tv show from the 1950s & 60s

In my town, just 6 miles away
eggs, bacon, a few potatoes, toast & coffee runs about $11
very few people ever say hello in the cafes
If someone is running past, they are looking over their shoulders to see if the cops were chasing them yet
Nobody leaves their windows down unless they are still in the vehicle, unless a screwdiver is stuck in the ignition
If someone bumps into you, shakes your hands, or hugs you, you better check to see if you still have everything that you had on you is still there

haha it's sad we have to lock everything up to feel safe. I personally have had my wallet pick pocketed at universal studios orlando and noticed, I tried chasing the SOB down but the crowd was too much and I couldn't keep up, I shouted "stop him" and people looked at me like "shut the F up"....sad how rude people can be. The best part is that I have never had a credit card, and don't carry cash, so all the guy got away with was my AMA membership card, couple insurance cards, license, and various business cards lol.

I know a lot of people that leave the doors unlocked and keys in the ignition, but at some point they always get targeted, usually by someone they know...sad

Keep everything of mine locked up and no valuables in my truck, certainly not within view. My ex used to live in the country and so locking doors/vehicles was not as common, until someone from their 'hood stole $100 out of my Jeep while I was parked there. Pretty much every time they left something unlocked, someone got into it so I've learned my lesson, lock it myself and check behind anyone else!

Hmmmmm, gotta test which side of the tracks I am on. 1) Place old wallet with corner from a $20 bill sticking out on dash. 2) Leave window driver's window open. 3)Sit in friends car next to truck with dark tinted windows. 4) Have two tasers ready to stun for testing purposes.

you will get more action by just leaving an Apple device on the dash board, or in my hood, just a pack of cigarettes would do it

It took sometime to get used to for me when I moved. Our neighbors, the closest of which is 3/4 of a mile away, are into some illegal substances along with some of the other fine residents of the "neighborhood" but they have all learned in someway or another not to mess with anything on the property. We leave them alone and they don't bother is either.
