If you get the ignition sorted out and it's still backfiring, I'm thinking hotdog got in the truck after doing the work he did, and he revved it up a few times. If you had a weak intake belly pan gasket, it may have failed. Eliminate possible vacuum leaks externally. Make sure all the lines are intact and in place.
