Looks like I'll be getting mine this week. I'm visiting my son in Maine and while getting the oil changed at his dealership, I asked the service manager if he has heard anything about this issue. Mind you this is a small dealership, but he has not heard of it. I told him about the Star Case and he looked it up. Told me that if I'm experiencing the problems, he could have the exchange done while I'm here. Didn't even need to take it for a ride or nothing... go figure.... only had to travel 1200 miles to make it happen....

I picked my truck up at the dealer yesterday after having the torque converter replaced and the very irritating noise is gone. It is like having a new truck. I strongly suggest that anyone hearing the noise should take it to the dealer. I am sure they will do the right thing.

Thats really nice that its fixing the TC noise issue, BUT........!!!!!!!!!!....
did they re-install the transmission back into your truck properly...???
I highly dought they took the time to properly re-torque EVERYTHING back
to the proper specs. Or how about hooking all the hoses/lines/wiring up right.
Is EVERYTING back into its proper position, like the day it was brand new..?
How many bolts aren`t getting put back in..!

I highly dought they did that good of a job being thats its a warranty freebie...!
I get what you're saying LU, but I think something like a transmission would be serviced about 99% correctly. Now something that required removing door panels, dash components, etc.... I'd guess half the clips/fasteners would be broken or missing.

I too was confused if I was hearing it or not. When I took it to the local dealer, they needed to hear it for confirmation. Of course I could not duplicate it then. I recently took a 1200+ mile trip to visit family and could hear it occasionally, even my wife commented. After driving around for a week, the noise is very prominent now and occurs constantly. I'm having the TC replaced today. Will let y'all know how that works out for me.

I'm very confident with the service team at this dealership.

Well, the TC was replaced successful! More responsive, no noise, better fuel economy than noticed prior. Looking forward to my trip back to Michigan on Saturday!

I agree but there are definitely some good mechanics out there. My mother took her Chevy HHR in for warranty work and you could see where they used screwdrivers to pry the dashboard apart *doh!*

Thats what i`m talking about brother. Thats just flat out unacceptable..!
If it were MY car, they would replace every damaged piece they fugged up.
It surely didnt come from the factory that way, and it should NEVER be returned to the customer with damage. Proper tools for the job goes a long ways, knowledge and common sense go even firther.

Man that is literally word for word what we told the service manager lol. He was very good, all parts were replaced. He said the guy that did the work was new.

I do everything myself, just about. Usually the only time I go to a shop is for tires, and every single time I do, I find scratches either on the wheels or the truck itself When I had these tires put on I ordered brand new lugs ($40 or $60...can't remember), and the guy opened the box and dumped them on the concrete from about 3 feet high.....agh. I told them if I found one scratch they would buy another set.
