Just had mine replaced yesterday. Not sure if it is new or a rebuild, will have to look into that. My son works at the dealership, so I'll be able to find out. I don't hear the noise anymore so that is good. Gas mileage is registering much higher than I'm used to seeing after a fresh tank. Throttle response is much better too. I was hard pressed to get the tires to break loose on dry pavement without taking the traction control off before, now it breaks free with no problem. Will have to make another update after I return home from vacation this week. I drove 1200 miles to get here on the bad TC. Am actually looking forward to the trip!

I don't want to beat a dead horse here but I've noticed the grinding noise after 50Km/h when tow/haul mode is engaged ONLY.

IMHO it is just starting for you. Have you tried using select drive? I swore I could hear mine act up in D, but the wife never could really hear it. I tried the tow/haul trick without much success, but I put it in 5 and it was really loud to the point where even she could not deny it.

It seems to be loudest at 1400-1600 rpm.

I have a 2010 with about 15,000 miles on it that does this too, centered right around 1500 RPM. Every time I hear it, I look down, and I'm passing 1500 RPM, every time. ( How common is the bad TC on the 2010's ? )
I'm waiting for it to get bad enough the dealer can't ignore it. ( They JUST replaced the rear diff !?! )

I can't believe I have another major repair coming.

Had mine done and it solved the grinding/howling/vibration. I am happy with the results so far.

Mine was replaced last February (1800 miles) and everything still good so far (9200 miles).

Did not notice any gas mileage difference after the swap nor any shifting changes.

I'm satisfied with the repair. My dealership seemed to handle the issue well, though it took 3 month's worth of taking it back and forth to the dealer for on-going diagnosis from techs and Chrysler engineers.

Chrysler gave me eight free oil changes for my troubles. I've used three so far.

All this said, If I could buy my Ram again, I wouldn't. This truck was the first brand new vehicle I was able to buy in years and the "new vehicle" excitement vanished after only a week of ownership when the nightmare began. This whole experience has left me with a bitter taste in regard to buying another Chrysler product ever again. I know the other manufacturers have issues as well, but I have never been on the good side of Murphy's law of averages.

I do not know of anyone with a 2010 having the issue. That's not to say it may not happen....
