Default Is my truck a regular 4x4 or does it have the "OFF ROAD" pckg?

Ok, so I replied to other threads thinking this is the standard 4x4, but after doing research on lift kits to buy I am not so sure anymore...There are no stickers or anything indicating the truck has the OFF ROAD package, but after looking at some pics of another same year truck with the OFF ROAD stuff I am inclined to think it is...I need to be certain as I am about to order a lift kit! please help!

rear leaf with what appears to be a 3" block underneath.

front shock

thanks!

Well, it may be the off road package or it might be an older lift and level kit that was installed by a previous owner.

since i own a '01 ram and have a 3" leveling kit from looking at your pics it does appear to be a bone stock truck ... cause my '01 has the 2.5" blocks in the back and it does look like someone put a taller spring in yours with the bigger shock instead of the coil spacer and bigger shock ... best way i have ever found (prolly cause i got buddys at the dealership) is ask them to do a VIN search to see what level model your truck is ... i lucked out when i bought mine from a friend i had the build sheet and window sticker

I'd put a body lift on it, your frame ends would be covered in the front by the extended lower air dam piece you've got. Keeps the CG a little lower for rollover prevention. Just my 2 cents...

Yours looks to be a regular one with no lift at all.
Off road package also had 17 inch rims, 4:10 rear end

I think you can likely call or email Dodge with your VIN # & get a build sheet, even if it is 10 years old

I would email Dodge with your vin...

But in the meantime...

An off road ram would have come with three very noticable visual indicators.

A. Extra webbing around the front differential housing.

B. Gas tank skid plate.

C. 17 inch cast alloy 5 spoke rims.

Other not so visual clues are the H.D alternator and power steering cooler along with an external tranny cooler. All off road rams were automatics...well i have not found any info to the contrary!

As far as lift, your ram looks all original. It has the stock rear blocks and even what looks like the original shocks!

i agree with okie... the blocks in the rear are stock. as for your front springs, they are identical to what mine were before i put a lift in it. that much i know for a fact.

now on a not so sure basis... i believe the off road package was only offered with a quad cab short box.

AND the off road package never had the plastic emblems on the side... the dodge 1500(or 2500) on the side was a sticker and the tailgate emblems were also stickers, along with the off road package sticker. unless you or someone else swapped those....

Actually, starting in 2000, you could get a "off-road" package with a short box.

http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/1994-ram.html

Quote:
"A new off-road group was set up for the Ram 1500 4x4 with short wheelbase, using a unique suspension, limited slip differential, heavy duty components, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps, 4.10 axles, and different tires and wheels."
You will find that when you scroll down to the black short box.
