Exclamation Trailer brake controller

Don't mean to seem stupid, but I have a question. I just used my newly installed trailer brake controller this past Sunday. While the Ram did an excellent job of towing (it was a 12 foot flat bed trailer with a side by side ATV as the cargo), I'm not too sure what I am supposed to see on the display of the controller. It read 2.0 while in tow, and would increase to 5.0 when braking.

Sure hope y'all can help!

Is it the stock brake controller, or after market?

Just to be clear, you have the gain set at 2, then when you push the brakes it jumps to 5?

Owners manual explains in detail how to adjust the controller.

Actually, I haven't set anything. It was installed at the dealer (yes, it is a Ram controller), and this is the first time it has been used.

You should be able to adjust according to how much your towing. Ive never used the factory controler but there should be a plus/minus button that adjust the brake pressure and a slider for you the manually engage/test the brakes.
The heavier the trailer the higher the number you will need.
To set it, maunually engage the brakes, if they lock up you need to turn it down.
