So is this true or just FUD? I find it hard to believe that you cant put anything but a mopar exhaust system on a new ram without voiding your warranty. Thanks.
I put a cat back flowmaster kit on my 2011 outdoorsman and the service manager said it would not affect warranty.

I was told that anything after the cat pipe would not void the warranty. They advised me not to cut into the stock Y pipe at all. The exhaust shop i had mine done at said they put true duals on an '09 and it voided his warranty. May just be my dealer. Just givin ya a heads up.

^everything maddog is saying is hitting the nail right on the head. If you modify something and it fails, they don't have to warrant it. If you modify something, and something fails not due to that modification, they have to warrant it.

Default Voiding warranty

Spoke with the folks at Mufflex. They stated that changing the muffler would not but replacing the Y pipe would.

Best thing is to have your service manager ask Dodge if you can have it done then they setup the deal with who they outsource to and everything is under warranty. This is how I have to do my lift kit and sidesteps. Will do it with the y pipe too as the same shop will do that too.

Maddog is right on. I can't add to it except for when I did this I did notice that when I drove in to the dealer ship for my 1st free oil change the mechanics like how she sounded and I had alot of compliments.

Oh and it's louder and sounds better too :P BEWARE, it does come with a free mod, a really heavy right shoe.

I put a Magnaflow Y-pipe and a 14 inch magnaflow on my 2012 ram sport and the exhaust shop told me that my warranty might be voided because of that. They said muffler is ok but y-pipe is a no go. I hope they are wrong because it was an after the fact sort of deal.

A Y-pipe mod is after the cats, correct? How should that affect warranty when a muffler and tailpipe replacement won't?

It's just like anything else, if that particular mod causes an issue, then it voids warranty. If it doesn't cause an issue then it doesn't void warranty. If you put a muffler on that is packed with dynamite, and it blows up once it gets hot and destroy your truck then no your truck's not covered under warranty.
