If you don't have 4wd, go under the truck, on the drivers side of the transmission crossmember, theres 2 tubes that supply vaccum to the axle disconnect, that was the source of my vaccum problems (as well as my 4wd failure) It 's a terrible joint on the tubing, tall grass will disconnect the tubes, I ziptie clamped mine. I'm getting off topic here, but if you ever don't get a 4x4 light, or axle connect, look there... My throttle position sensor on the 98 has always caused grief in the winter when its like 15 below zero, first start of the day, it won't start without foot on throttle, and refuses to idle for about 5 minutes. I live with it, Better the devil I know, than the one in the chinese box, y'know!!

Still no luck..It seems to be worse if there is moisture or frost in the air. This morning as it was stumbling I got out and looked around and could hear nothing like a vac leak. But did notice a weird sulfur smell.I put some seafoam in the gas so maybe that was the smell but idk.I start it .It runs really rough stumbles and almost stalls.I will let it sit for 5 min and it fires right up and runs perfect. But I do notice now that there is a constant stumble in idle when im at a syop or it sits at idle.Im stumped??

Did you replace either the crank or cam sensors?

If this things stumbleing when its cold there is an ambient air temp sensor, I think its like the manifold air temp sensor on chevy. It might be working but not right sending wrong sig to computer and setting wrong codes.

Well I rechecked everything and crawled underneath to pull the crank position sensor out.It had all kinds of metal debree on it so I bought another new one and low and behold the truck seems to be fine now.I'm thinking that the I somehow got a bad cps out of the box.I still have a slight sputter at idle but it starts and runs alot better now so I'm hoping that the cps was the culprit. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on this...
