Default Plenum Repair Question

I have a 94 1500 5.9, just replaced my T-Stat today.
Looking down the TB, I have some residue in my intake, not alot but it is there. So looks like I need to do the Plenum repair.

Question:
How long can I continue to drive in this condition ?
Truck Runs fine, passed smog and I get 10-11 mpg in town and 15 hwy.
This is with 35" tires and 4.10 gears.
I probably can't afford to do the repair until after Christmas.

I wouldn't push getting it fixed and driving on it for too long. You don't want it to get worse or break something and have it shot into the motor! I would look in a junk yard or ebay or somewhere and just see about getting another one,

You won't break anything by driving it, but it will gradually become more symptomatic as the leak worsens. Drive easy to minimize the stress.

Some residue is normal from the PCV. If you aren't using oil, you are probably jumping the gun. I've got an 01 with 105k miles, and I haven't lost a drop of oil, yet I see a little residue in mine. My mileage is about the same as yours. There is a diagnostic.

I agree. When the plenum is leaking there will be large amounts of wet oil puddling in the plenum. You should also experience pinging and use a small amount of oil.
If it looks like a dry brown residue, that would be normal.
Finally, if you're still not sure, run the diagnostic.
