Default Seat swap

My son has a 1997 ram and the drivers seat is trashed and I have found several seat for sale on craigslist but for newer models, can these newer seats be mounted in the older truck. I feel that the brackets don't mount directly to the floor because the floors look different, but can I take the brackets off and mout the older brakets to the newer seats? I would rather stay with factory seats as opposed to installing after market seat covers.

the brackets are completley different, I do know that much. Sorry though, I am unsure about actually switching the brackets.

Go to the local junkyard and try and find some seats. You can get them in mass quanities around here, many of which aren't worn that badly.

has anyone ever figured anything out on this? I've done a little bit of research but have had no luck finding an answer... I'm looking to trade worn out seats for newer model seats as well.

If the brackets interchange...you can. But, looking at them, they look a little different.

As poorly as these seats wore you'd think somebody would have figured out something about swapping them around!!

I'm pretty sure the floor-pan is the same from '94-'01. Early to mid '98 the seats changed but should still bolt up.

The only other issue is the shoulder belt. The difference being that the older models mount to the pillar. After the style change the shoulder belt is attached to the seat.

Taking that into consideration the swap is doable.
