Default Low RPM vibrations?

Just wondering if any of you guys have experienced this...

Normally around 40 mph my rpms are around 1,100-1,200. I've experienced this before in manual transmissions. If you shift into a higher gear, and have low rpms, it seems as if the car wants to stall, and it has a vibration to it. While driving my truck i get this feeling with my automatic transmission. It seems as if it wants to shift to a higher gear, but its like border line or something. When I give it a little gas the vibration goes away. Like I said this only happens around 40mph and 1,100-1,200 rpms. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Hi Kooker,

There's quite a few threads on this if you search under "MDS". It sounds like what you are experiencing is the engine going from 8 cyl to 4. This saves gas but sounds terrible and causes a vibration in the truck at low RPM's. You can avoid the cylinder shut down by pushing your shifter left once, and then to the right until you see a "5" on your EVIC. This disables the MDS and let's you run through all 5 gears in 8 cyl.

Hope this helps, but it is a common frustration that exists to get better MPG #'s. I personally see better local gas mileage in Manual 5 mode than in full auto. Others may disagree.
