Then your reading verify the switch is good.
When you get a chance, with the switch disconnected, using a fairly heavy wire, jump between the Pink/Red and Black yellow wires at the connector. This should turn on the tail markers, etc. Basically, the switch creates a short circuit in the on position that jumps these wires together.

I have a 97 1500. I had the same problem except my switch completely melted. After Ohm testing and several switches being burnt (along with the thicker green wire) I just ran new headlight wires and two toggle switches. I hope you get your truck figured out.

Well finally back to working on this mess. In my case the headlights work as they should, its the clearance lights that are messed up.

To answer Brad: doing the jumper wire as you instructed I can make the headlights come on and the marker lights come on. I kinda figured they would since I can get the clearance lights on with the switch but they don't come on when the switch is in the correct position.

I had to drive it out to Rock Springs Wyoming to pull home my 01 with a bad transmission (luckily still under warranty). I could get the clearance lights on in between stops on the switch and by pulling the turn signal handle back and wedging a piece of paper to hold it the headlights would stay on high beam so I had headlights. What a riggin!!! Luckily the lenses on my headlights could use polishing so they don't shine too bright. I may be leaning towards a toggle switch for the clearance lights if I can't get this thing figured out.

I have run into this same problem and when the dash and running lights turn off, I can hit right above the light switch/dimmer and the lights come back on. So I am completely lost.

Are you saying that when you had the switch removed, and placed a jumper between the Red wire in B2 and the Black/Yellow wire in R that both the headlights and tail/marker/clearance lights came on!

With that jumper in place, ONLY the tail/marker/clearance lights should have lit up. The headlights should have remained dark.
