Default wax

being a detailer on the side, ive used just about everything, and the products mentioned above are very good.

I have settled on chemical guys. they are very helpful, the ship fast and there products do what they say.

I use on my black truck:
jet seal 109 which will make water bead like non-other. I put 2 thin coats of this stuff on then finish with 2 thin coats of petes 53.

On black, my truck looks like a mirror, and it will last (if you do it right) about 6 months. I would suggest you give them a try, i know you wont be upset with the results.

you dont need to bust your arse with paste wax any more...there are a great deal of liquid waxes out there that will give you the finish/durability you are looking for with a whole lot less work (less is really more). I used to use only meguirs products (not OTC meguirs lines) with great results. they are/were superior products, but found they worked best on single stage paints or gelcoat (i used them primarily in the fibreglass/yacht business).

with that being said, I just did a total paint correction and detail on my black 2010 ram. spend the money and get some good products and you wont be disappointed. This time i used wolfgang swirl remover, polish and paint sealant (3 steps) and topped that with 2 coats of poorboys liquid natty's blue. wow is all i can say.

ADAMS Americana paste wax FTW. Adam backs his product up with a 110% guarantee. I use it for my vehicles and my part-time detailing business. Can't beat it.

I'm sure this is too simple of a question to answer....but I'm going to ask anyways for the experts, lol...

I'm honestly not all too concerned with how perfect the polish/shine on my truck is, it's dirty 90% of the time anyway due to working construction...what I'm after is protection. Say I wash my truck 3 or 4 times a year, and "wax" it once or twice a year, what is the best product to apply to keep it protected? Thanks!

Most "waxes" usually protect for about 4-6 weeks. A good "sealant" usually protects for about 6 months. I would recommend that you go to autopia.net and autogeek.org and read about professional detailers experiences and the products they use. There are many "good" sealants on the market, read about them at the above 2 web sites and make your choice. I would not recommend you go to a big box store and buy some "cheapy" stuff off the shelf and expect great results.
