You might want to check and see if your truck even came with one (check your window sticker). Sometimes depending on where you live or where you bought your truck will depend on if your truck came with a engine heater. Regardless if it's a diesel or not. You got to love Dodge.... the upside to this, they're not that much and super easy to install.

Yeah...make sure it came equipped with it!

Here's a link that you can use to get a build sheet on your truck:

If it was delivered in texas, then it probably didn't come with one. Unless yours came with the winterization package or the canadian package, you won't have a block heater. Oh, and what temperature did it have troubles starting in? Mine starts turning over with some effort around the -15C mark.

All the Cummins engines have the heater element installed at the factory, but unless you get the block heater as an option, it doesn't have the cable attached.

I'm pretty sure the heating element is located in the block behind the oil filter. If yours doesn't have the cable, you can buy one from Geno's, or go to Amazon.com, where I found one for about $15.

I think thats what we all meant, you have to buy the cable not the actual engine heater.

FYI... I had an 06 Cummins that I bought in Texas and had to order the cable as well, took maybe 5 seconds to install it.
