Default Lift or level?

I recently purchased a 99 1500 Laramie SLT 4x4 ext cab. It has the 318 auto with 185,000 miles. I'm thinking about goin to a 33" tire (on stock 16" wheels). I love the look of a lifted truck, but don't want to go too big due to the high mileage.
My question is should I lift, or get spacers? I want something that will ride good and won't wear out my front end. Thanks for your input!

Is it a long bed or a short bed?

Extended cab or just a single seater?

What is the overall height on the tires you have on it?

If your tires measure say...32 inches tall, a 33 inch tire only lift it a half inch and you wouldn't need a lift at all. The width of a 33 inch tire might be the only issue which I doubt there'd be any rub while turning.

Remember that if you're taking measurements from what you have to what you want. If you have 33 inch tires and want to go to 38 inch tires, that's only a 2 and a half inch difference from 33-38. Just as an example.

I'm not sure what the difference between spacers and a lift are, but if you are going to lift it more than, say, 2 inches, I would buy a "lift", or lift kit.

The reason is because a well designed lift kit has all the parts you need to lft your truck, but as importantly, a good lift kit will allow the trucks' front suspension to be aligned back to factory specs. It also centers your front axle correctly under the truck.
Usually there will be an offer to include new, longer shocks.

A 2 inch front coil spacer will level your truck, move your front axle over and back slightly, but should allow clearence for 33 inch tires.
