Exclamation Level Your Truck? Do you feel the vibs? Read Here!

Hey Everyone!

I do not know if this has been brought up here before, since I have not been on in a while. I was ordering my leveling kit for my '11 Ram and I saw something that can help guys/gals with the vibrations caused by lifting the front end.

The vibration is caused by the CV shafts being on too much of an angle. Dodge made the trucks with the CVs on an angle from the factory. So when us enthusiasts want to lift the front of the truck the CVs are out of whack. This is what causes the vibration....IT IS NOT DEATH WOBBLE!!!! hahaha.

Usually to fix this problem you either have to take the level out and lift the truck. Now this does cost money but it is a big fix. The only other thing would be to lower the front diff with a subframe up front. Now this is great if you want to lift your truck more, gives you the incentive haha. The only problem is if you do not want to do that you are screwed and have to take the level out and your pissed off. I hope what I found can help ya all.

So what I found looks like it would work, it is a set of high angle CVs. This will give them more play which should fix the vibration problem. The only problem is they are a little pricey. I need a set for myself too, but damn $800. I thought I would show you guys there could be a fix for the vibs if you have room in your budget! I hope this helps some of you guys out there and makes ya a little happier!

Here is the web site so you guys can check it out:

Good read Scatpak.. I as you all know have a 6' BDS with 5100's set at 2.8". Mine does have a very slite wobble from 0-15 mph. I called my dealer on this and they wanted to drive it to see what i was talking about. They did and told me it would be fine as my axcles are not at a bad angle.I was looking at the kore cv's but as for right now they are on the back burner. I am getting the MMW UCA's after i get my Tunner.

Hope everything is going good for you Scat .

I under stand that all leveling kits will cause this wobble. I have also talked to guys with lift kits. Some have this problem and some don't. Is any one lift kit designed better to prevent this?

I retested my 4wd out and no wobble . From what I have read some Rams the cv's are already at an angle from the factory. So if you put a level on it then it will wobble. it is just wierd. You would think our trucks would react the same on lifts/levels/both

Lifting the truck is different then leveling it since the lift kits lower the front diff. If your lift kit comes with a new sub frame then it is a good one and it will lower the front diff enough to fix the angles and bring them back to stock. I would definitely say go with a better brand of lift if you are considering it since you get what you pay for. I dont doubt it that the cheaper lift kits dont bring the angles back to stock.

I believe trucks after 09/10 are not as bad then anything older then 08. My '11 CVs look like they are going on a negative angle (toward the diff). So it looks like you can really lift the front end and not worry about it. So guys with newer Rams shouldnt worry too much. Honestly just look at the CVs up front and make a judgment call. If they are on an angle already then dont go with a front lift over 2". Also remember that if you lift the rear of the truck you will raise the front around +/-.25"
