Default Another Tire Thread

I know that the tire size subject has been posted over and over but everyone seems to answer only part of the posters questions before going off on some "maybe, might or could" tangent and not finishing out the answer. Maybe this one will be different.

I have a 2012 Laramie 4x4 with the mopar leveling kit being delivered this week (WhooooHooooo) but I want to put different tires on the factory 20" rims. I like the nitto's and would like to know if anybody has "for sure" seen 35x12.5 fit without rubbing. If you have done this or seen it please let me know if you needed a backspacer on the wheel and if so what size.

I am not going to be getting a lift or new rims for quite awhile, the price of the truck and tires is more then enough spending at christmas time. I just wanted a tougher tire for right now. Dropping the $$$$'s on tires that "might" work isn't an option.

If anyone has some pics of this done could you please post them. I'd love to see what it looks like after dropping all the cash down.

Thanks

not sure if this helps but i have an 04 crew cab with 17" 305/70/17's which are roughly 34"x12. i do not have a leveling kit installed yet. they are pretty close to the back of the fender when turned almost all the way. maybe 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" of clearance. i havnt rubbed yet but i would be much more comfortable with a 2" leveling kit. i have a picture in my profile with them on. not the best angle to see though. hope this helps.

Any respectable tire shop will have all the info you need with regard to tire size/rim/clearance etc...The guys at Costco did me right on my 285/70/17.
These are not nitto's or 20 in rims but you can see a leveled 1500 with a larger tire

Ok, to start the answer. The stock 275-60r20's are a 33"OD tire. If you add 1-2.5" of leveling to the front of your truck then a 35 will work! 33"-35" is only 1" of height in any direction! I haven't done it yet..... but the proscess has been started!

Leveling kit (Rough Country) will be installed Friday at the dealer. I will wait til I wear out my stock tires before replacing them with 35's!
If you have any more questions @ tire sizing ... Google "Tire size calculator" then use the Mitas one. It works the best!

Default Nittos

hey I have a 2011 Express reg cab with 20" stock rims>yesterday I put 275/65/20 nitto terra grapplers on and they fit just fine no rubbing or issues and it fills in the gap perfectly. They look awesome on there and a very smooth ride.I dont think you can go anybigger than this without a lift...they were $1300 with lifetime balance ,rotation and warranty for life of the tire at Discount Tire,,,hope this helps
