Yep, powdercoated parts will stand up a LOT better to daily use than painted.

As far as painting chromed plastic, you can scuff it up and prep, as with any paint job, is very important. One thing to remember is that your paint should have a plasticizer in it as the plastic will flex and without it, the paint will crack.

As for the bumper, I sanded the crap outta that too, then used that DIY bed liner stuff on it. It held up good for a while but started flaking off. I took the bumper off and striped all the plastic off of it, took it to a local powder coater and had him powdercoat it black gloss. It came out looking great. After a few road trips, about 8k miles later, and many many gravel roads it still looks great. They put 3 coats on it and it cost me $100.

Please post MORE pictures of your truck......I am looking at doing that myself and would like to see what it really looks like ..... Do you have the lower portion of the sides of your truck painted???

No I dont, I'm waiting untill I can get a spray on bedliner in the bed and along the lower portion of the entire side of the truck. Basicaly from that horizontal crease down along the entire length of my truck. I drive a lot of gravel roads and they are getting pretty torn up......and I hate mudflaps.

I dont have any new pictures, those are the newest ones I have. I'll take some more soon though. Since those pictures I replaced the headlights with black bezled 'Night Runner' headlights and painted the grill black. I'll be repainting it white soon though, I dont like it black.

Default some options maybe

Sharing my Xperience with model cars(plastic),use bleach.A large container with bleach and let the part(s) sit for a while.Chrome disapears.Let dry, paint. Bumpers or any metal chrome,Sandblast. If you have a compressor and can afford one of the cheap Bottle Type portable blasters like mine(HF Tools),then u can do yours and others for a small fee.Otherwise look for some service blasting to be done at a local shop.Careful of media choice and heat that can be created from concentrating on one area too long.Another choice,if you live within a distance of short travel to a galvanizing plant or chroming plant, they can easily remove chrome for a small fee.Best if they sre preparing to change their tank chemicals as this is when they are more adaptable to do this. They don't like to do this on a fresh batch of acids.Hope this helps.Matter of fact,it could be feasible if more than one bumper/bumpers were done as they generally will charge by the fact they must rack and dip all at one time, therefor the more on the rack, the happier most are.But i can only share this as i once worked with a friend who owns/runs such a plant.Hope this gives ideas for any future Modders out there.
