Most likely a 241, you don't lock out hubs because you have CAD ( central axle disconnect ).

99% sure it's the NP241. (Not to be confused with the NV241....that came later).

I first looked at this yesterday, and since then it's become relatively idle.

It seems like one of the questions that just make you go ??? and move on.

Sooo, when you ask about a governor, what I get is similar to a rev limiter. No your truck doesn't have either. I can't remember there ever being one on such a vehicle as it would severely limit its performance capabilities.

Well then, the only thing I can think of is...is there a tachometer?

Because if you put it in park and hold the gas pedal to the floor and the engine blows up, the answer is no. It does NOT have a governor.

If you keep it in park and hold the gas pedal to the floor and it stops revving before it redlines and blows up, then the answer is yes, it DOES have a governor.

Gosh, I hope that helps. Let me know how that works out for ya.

Possibly two kinds of governors...a rev limiter and a speed governor...could be on your truck.

Again, I could easily be wrong...but it was my understanding that the "W" series didn't have them, and the "D" series started with the 250 with a speed governor as an option, and was pretty much only on the Snow Commander.

That's why they got the nick-name "Slow Commander" before that some of the old Powder Wagons had speed governors, but again those were almost exclusively D250's and up.
