Default Backup Camera

I didn't want to spend the 2k the dealer wanted to upgrade to the RER so I purchased a License Plate Camera and a Boyo 3.6" Color Monitor and had Best Buy install in the truck. It comes on when shifted into reverse and shuts off when in drive. The monitor/camera has night vision and backup assist lines built in. Works fine for what I need. Heck of alot cheaper also, less than $300 for everything including installation.

The Rev is on a distinguished road

I installed the factory backup camera, and a forward looking aftermarket camera. You can use a Lockpick to operate both front and rear cameras, but I decided to go with the factory install on the backup camera.

The install wasn't that difficult, the new handle assembly with camera installs in the tailgate really easily, and runging the wires up to the front of the vehicle wasn't so bad. The most difficult part were getting the wiring into the cab in a clean and professional way, and wiring into the multipin harnes at the back of the radio. The factory harness firewall gromet actually has a small tube like appendage which is there to allow you to run a new wire through it.

Since I decided to go with a factory install rather than having the lockpick control the rearview camera, I had to have the vehicle reflashed. I went by the dealer on a Saturday when the only do oil changes, but talked the service writer into doing the reflash for me. They didn't charge me for the reflash, but I gave the tech a twenty spot for his time.

As a side note, I just installed the factory electril locking tailgate kit yesterday. It was one of those things that really bothered me that the truck didn't come with. That install was easy for anyone interesed in doing on theirs.
