Default Howdy

New to the forum... I ended up with a truck today that was not the truck I was looking for.

I was looking for a 94-97 extended cab diesel with either a short bed or a maintenance body.

I got a 94 regular cab long bed today for $500. Its auto trans is slipping a bit and it hit something in the front passenger side. Looks like it needs a new fender, some hood work, possibly a core support, and just general massage... no biggie there. More work than I was looking for, but I drove it the 31 miles back over bad asphalt and dirt roads, and it did fine.

Aside from the tranny slipping, the t-case shifts well (231HD), makes no noises, and it does engage 4WD. Its a Laramie package with all the power junk and infinity sound system. AC blows ok... doesn't really get as cold as I remember these trucks getting until I'm up on the highway though. Its got 170,000 on the clock, runs strong, the engine is suspiciously clean (wondering if there's a crate engine in it).

Eh, I guess that's it. I've never owned one of these before, so I'm fuzzy on specifics (if the heater core really is bad, does it leak in the cab?) (I remember doing a heater core on one of these years ago, but can't remember evacuating the AC) (will the 5.9 even tow a Jeep?) (will it last me a year or so until I've sold enough Jeeps to buy a diesel?).... But I'm good on general maintenance.

I'm gonna flush the trans (smells burnt) I know some don't abide by it... but this fluid is baaaad. So, I'll flush it (or at least drop the pan and swap filters), put a couple bottles of stops leak in it, possible add a cooler or two (I got em on the shelf, so why not?) and run it till it pops.

Sorry no pics... was working on other things tonight. But really, if you've seen one of these trucks, you've seen this one.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

The more I think about it, I think the fluid coming out of the heater vent is likely something the PO spilled... the whole dash is sticky too.

On another note: I need a radiator... I put a post up over here:

http://***************/forum/2nd-gen...ml#post1731966

But it seems they can't do anything but bash a noob. Where should I put a post like that on here? Maybe I'll actually get some advice that is both useful and pertinent. Only reason I put it over there is cause they break it down by truck generation, and I figure that a radiator is more a truck generation-specific thing than an engine-specific thing. (although, obviously, engine matters, it is second to what year truck it is, I think)

On Edit: LOL... I guess we aren't too friendly with the "Dodge Forum" here? eh, it don't mattter...

The gist of it is:

Mind you there is no answer on that site to my question (yeah, I searched) (or on google, really...), and I didn't get a single solid answer to what I asked in however many posts either. If it don't exist, or its made of unobtanium, fine. But FTLOG, give me a useful answer.

Anyway, where would I put a post like that on here? Maybe I'll get an answer that helps. Thanks
