Well, not sure where else to go with it. I don't think many deny that there's not some kind of feedback due to MDS, but you gotta agree that it's a bit subjective as to how many people rate it in terms seriousness. As to the start of your post asking for an opinion about the application of a counterbalance shaft, it appears most of us don't think that's a solution. Maybe the only absolute solution would be for Dodge to program the computer to not let the MDS activate until something approaching highway speed was attained. I'll still bet that Chrysler is only able to attain its higher fuel economy ratings because MDS is working all the time. It's on nearly every time your off the gas or when you're maintaining a constant speed on level ground. That can rack up some decent mileage improvement over time. Without some better fuel economy numbers, Chrysler gets slapped with CAFE penalties, don't they?

Still, why don't those who really dislike the results from MDS just tap the gear selector button to disable it. I notice on mine that I can tap to 6th gear...MDS is disabled. You have to tap one more time "higher" if you want MDS to be enabled again from that point on. Now, will it require me to disable the MDS again the next time I start the truck?...yes.

Nope...no Fear!

In an effort to discover this vibration you have mentioned, I stopped by my local Dodge dealer to talk with the service department. They have had a few customers complain of this vibration, and had one in their shop sporting that complaint. I spoke with the technician, and went on a test drive with him in bother that truck and mine to compare the MDS experience. End result, I have absolutely no idea what the owner is experiencing, because I was unable to detect any vibration that would be considered abnormal.

As this peaked my curiosity, I waited an extra 15 minutes to meet the owner and discuss this with him. He offered to take me for a drive (as long as he got the opportunity to ride in my Ram....I think he likes it. ), so off we went. At the point in time where he reproduced the issue, I was unable to detect any vibration, but did hear the MDS in the exhaust, so suggested that he turn up the radio a bit. His comment - "It only vibrates with the radio off".

We then took a ride in my truck. He immediately noticed how the MDS was much worse in my truck than his. I didn't correct him.....but.....after the test drive with the technician, I put my tune back in with MDS delete.
What he heard was the deep rumble of my MagnaFlo muffler, which I guess was what prompted him to say - "I sure am glad mine doesn't use the MDS at idle like yours does."

My sample size is quite small, but I will continue to look for a Hemi Ram that vibrates. I really want to experience this phenomena so I can relate to those that have it. The Service Manager indicated that he would contact me if/when they get one in that really vibrates.

OH Yah....about the other forum. Bin there, read that. To me, it's just more of the same. So far I have only 'heard' of this issue, but even those around here have yet to reproduce it for me.....other than the false positive I mentioned above.

I sure wish I could witness the trucks you have mentioned. The biggest issue I have with the internet, is it closes the communication gap real well, but does nothing to bring stuff like this physically closer, but sure presses the desire button. What we really need is an internet transporter!

brad, i can feel/tell when my truck is in mds, with or with out the radio on. like you though i do not feel any vibration, enough that i notice it anyway. that being said, any product that smooths out the engine/drivetrain is not, imho, something that should be easily dismissed as it should add longevity to any component that is can be damaged by vibration.
