Default Fuel tank fittings

Hi all,

We've recently bought our Ram and now an EVAP code occurs. Since it was not the fuel cap, I had a closer look at the fuel tank and discovered that 2 fittings on the tank were not connected at all. One off the previous owners probably had it removed for some reason and not fitted back correctly. (and/or maybe tweaked the EVAP system for not throwing an error code )

I also have found a tube hanging loose and squeezed besides the tank. It comes from the EVAP canisters/vac. pump and it looks like it could fit the connection where the second red arrow is pointing from on the picture below. But like said, it's kinda stuck and not getting that far. Can somemone please confurm that it should get there ?

The little tube on the first arrow seems to be broken off and I have no idea what should be mounted on this one. Anybody ??

Strange thing is that the tank on the picture is similar to our 2002 5.9L Ram, but differs a lot from the one described in the Haynes manual of a gen3 Ram. Now I'm also wondering if this is an OEM fuel tank ?

Thanks in advance for the tips and help,
regards,
Bart

After searching this forum for 2 days, a little light in the darkness:

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....highlight=evap

So one input/output goes along side the filler tube ? (which, I noticed, is also not connected at our truck )
And the other one mentioned in the tread above as a "fuel line" might be confused with the one I already found hanging loose ? It is a metal pipe and runs along with the other fuel line, but does ends up at the EVAP canisters/vacuum pump.

Now find some time and try to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Hopefully they'll fit

I've done some plumbing: managed to attach the small tube on the tank to the EVAP vac. pump line.

And the bigger tube on the tank is now fitted on the small tube behind the filler cap.

At first there was a small leak detected but after some "fine tuning" the EVAP errors are gone

They made 4 tanks for just about all Rams
2 diesel tanks, both different in fluid capacity
2 gasoline tanks, both again different in capacities, like 26 & 34 gallon

The diesel fuel pumps have 3 fittings on the fuel pump, 1 is a return line, IF i remember correctly

this shows what it looks like
