Default Accelerator Pedal

I would like to know how to remove my accelerator pedal from my 2004 Ram 1500 with the power pedals. I purchased an aluminum pedal kit from my dealer but it is only for non-power pedals. The brake pedal was a simple remove and replace. The accelerator snaps on over the existing but mine is too big (must be difference between power pedals and non). I plan to trim my existing pedal to make the cover fit, hence my need to remove it. It seems to have a pin and spring. Any help would be appreciated.
