I agree with White Ram, these trucks are already designed to get the best fuel milage as the factory can get them. If it were as easy as a simple tuner to get a few extra MPG the factory would do it. Don't you think Chrysler would love to advertise 22-24 MPG on these trucks. It just can't be done.

I had Iroks on my 05 Ram, so the Toyos are much more street friendly than the Iroks and I didn't lose the same mileage with the Iroks. They were 36s too.

Also, the trucks in stock form are a watered down version of some dreamers initial inspiration. They are tuned and designed to be as reliable and cutting edge as the overhead will allow.

Anyway, I love the truck, and as can be seen by my future plans for it Im not losing sleep over the MPG. I just wondered if I was missing some glaring reason for the pretty substantial drop in MPG.

I don't know when you did these mods, but don't forget we're now using gas formulated for winter. In my experience, that alone results in a 10% decrease in mpg.

Lift, tires, winter gas will knock MPGs down

when they built the Ram for the Gov't milage runs
they used a stripped down version of a 1500 & did the test on a DYNO, no one was in it, gas tank had enough to make the run, tires were highway tread
I would bet that the spare tire was not even on it

they don't test 4X4s, 2500 or 3500s models, the gov't does not require it

i dont think you have much to worry about. after all my mods and the fact that my truck doesnt go more than 600 ft without braking i stopped calculating mpgs. the last time i did, without jumping on the highway and just driving my regular to work and gym route i was at about 7 mpgs. price of living downtown Chicago along with the price of living downtown. i started calculating in time the engine was running instead of how far i went. and i will still race a car the whole 600 ft it takes to get to the next stop light.

Your tire size definatley has something to do with it. I bought my truck used with 275 65 20 inch tires on it. It was about 8 km per hour out at 110km. It read 110km but on GPS i was doing 118km. So that will mess with your computer and the dealer was unable to match my speedo to my tires. The best i would get is 15mpg. I just put on new Wranglers with the kevlar and went to factory size of 275 60 20 and i can get 21mpg now. average about 18.5, and that is with the 3.92 gears. I sold the old tires to a friend and told him the issue i had and he didnt care so he installed them and now he is complaining how much his mileage changed for the worse. It doesn't sound like a big deal changing so little on the profile of the tire but it really did with my truck anyways.

I would point to winter gas and the tires.
