damn dude I gotta go to your place! I was quoted at $350 for both to get them PC in Mineral Gray.

Brought this thread back b/c I'm thinking the same thing. I have a mineral grey Ram and thinking about either powder coating my chrome bumpers or getting them Line-X'ed.

Do you or anybody else have a picture of a bumper thats been line-x (preferably on a grey ram).

TIA

I am wanting to do the same thing to my bumpers (powder coat them) but I also called our local Line-X shop and they said they don't guarantee that Line-X will stick to chrome, plus I was quoted at least $500 for just the bumpers. If it doesn't stick you are out the money. I was quoted $150 to powder coat both bumpers and there shouldn't be any problem with sticking.

thing about powdercoating your bumpers or wheels the better condition the surface the better the powdercoat will turn out if your bumper has pitting or rock chips they will show through no body filler or bondo can put put on either so get it done before it gets to the point you cant

anything powder coated is well prepped, usually by sand blasting, before they apply the powder

if you are going to have anything like bumpers Linex-ed, it should also be prepped with sandblasting or some similar prep

Saw this thread figured I could throw my .02 in there. I work at a chrome plating shop and have a friend who does Powder for us sometimes.
It is better to have the chrome stripped of chemicaly to the Nickel underneath before blasting. Nickel is thicker and more durable than the chrome and less likley to peel or lift during blasting with pressure. Sure lifting or peeling won't happen on every bumper but it has happened. Usually from poor adheshion between the nickel & chrome from the factory.
High pressure "sand" blasting is not really needed on a good no pit plated bumper. Sand is course and can leave pits or become impregnated into the metal or lift/peel pating from friction.
Look for some other type of media blaster like baking soda or glass beading.

There are many ways to go about it.

What about vinyl wrapping? I know u would have to deal with rock chips eventually, but wouldn't it be cheaper?
