Default DPF Romoval

I am considering removing the DPF on my 07' 6.7. My dealer dosent think I should do that. I have 112,000 miles on it. Not happy with mpg or power. Anybody have any reasons that this should not be done? Should I remove the CAT also? Which tuner does anyone recomend? I'm a home builder, but anything needing a wrench I'm a little challenged. All help or any suggestions would be appreciated.

H&s minimaxx is In my opinion the beat tuner out for 6.7s. It's not hard to remove but it is really important to do it by the directions.

I also recommend the H&S MiniMAXX for the DPF delete.

Negatives for removing cats: illegal EVERYWHERE as it's a federal requirement to have them on any vehicle post '85(?). Vehicle can be impounded right then and there if cop really wants to.

Negative for removing DPF: more black smoke potential (is that really a negative?) but check your local laws first. Do you live/travel anywhere that does diesel emissions testing? If so, you're up the creek without a paddle.

Pros: SO many... better MPGs, no clogging DPF, no wasting fuel burning off filter, better airflow out = more power.

My suggestion, delete the DPF but leave the cats. You can get a 4" or 5" turbo back kit for the truck that includes the DPF delete pipe. I'd also delete the EGR cooler to reduce the intake temperatures, and since you're deleting the DPF the NOx will be out of control anyways, so why not go all out and destroy the atmosphere some more!

Thanks, why do you think the service dept at the dlr. suggested not to make thase changes? It's out of warranty anyway. I've bought several trucks through them, but this is my first deisel. I had a 95' 1500 w/ a 318 5 spd that I sold w/ 225,000 miles and I still see it driving around. I have a 04' 2500 w/ hemi w/ 135,000 that my crew drives everyday. Not sure I want to put more $ into this 07' Cummins. Thanks for your input

Deleting the dpf is also illegal. Weve taken our 09 through Dot inspections here in PA with only the stock muffler and nothing was said.
