The factory camera is on the left side of the handle. I have since added the factory locking handle and moved the camera over to the left side, just like the factory set up. Just last week I towed our camper for the first time since installing the camera and it was so easy to hitch up with the camera, took me one shot backing up to get the ball right on the trailer. Worth every penny.

This is a great idea. Thanks for the interesting post. I do have some questions:

Is this a wired or wireless camera hookup, i.e., is the feed leg/connector in the tailgate already there, or is there something to run back to the mygig unit? Sorry, I speak 'puter pretty well, just not truck wiring looms.

Also, when you play DVDs, did you use the mygig screen, or hang a new one from the top facing the rear seat like the factory?

Thanx again for the cool idea.

Frank

There are no wires in the back, so you have to run them. You will need to run 1 RCA type cable and 1 power cable from the radio to the camera. You can ground the camera anywhere in the back.
As for playing DVD's, yes I do play them up front via mygig.

yeah I'm going to go the same route. Getting ready to order a lockpick and a camera I will have it done when I get the rest of my stereo system upgrades next week. Does it provide a good view as a back up camera from there?

The view is great. It makes backing up to a trailer so much easier and faster.
I will try to get some pictures on.
