I have just the center row filled with the orange LEDs. Nine of them on each, in case anyone was wondering. And I'm 100% positive that red is illegal.

I have actually been pulled over already since having done this mod, and the cop didn't say anything about the LEDs at all. (Other than they looked good) Just pulled me over for my license plate frame...

Casey, check this out. I found this on superbright led. Do you think this would work out well?

www.superbrightleds.com/cat/through-hole/.

I know theyre a little spendy! Especially if I wanna get enough for the whole project at once. The only thing I am wondering is do you think that I will run into an issue on the back of the scoops with the parts that hold them in place?

Make sure you get LED lights that are waterproof with an IP Rating of 65 or above. Moisture will kill LED lights quickly.

A sort of simple explanation of water and dust proofing. Waterproof LED lights come in IP-65 thru. IP68
http://support.automation.siemens.co...rd&viewreg=OST

IP. The first digit-6- Wire protection dust-tight. (as IP4 Tools, wire, and small wires diameter 1mm and greater),

IP. Second digit-5- Protected against low pressure jets of water from all directions
IP. Second digit-6- Protected against heavy seas or powerful water jets (flooding)
IP. Second digit-7- Protected against the effects of temporary immersion in water
IP. Second digit-8- Protected against the effects of continuous immersion in water

I have used these in blue and IP65 waterproof http://www.superbrightleds.com/searc...ccent%20light/

Edit: I didn't use them in the hood. Just giving some information.

Hope this helps.

Greg

Hot glue melts at about 275-F, while underhood temps are commonly 500-F. I'd be curious about a follow-up from the OP to see if it became necessary to re-attach the LEDs after the hot glue melts in summertime.
