the displays are not exact.. true, but they r alot more accurate than what the next persone "said" they r getting.. depending one the exact trip and driving habbits a small v8 is gonna get 16-18 on short stop and go trips if yur lucky and it someone tell u they get more than that with the big ones 5.4, 5.7, 5.6 just say yea ok and go on

I like my 4.7L, but I wish it was the newer one. 235HP is pretty low for a V8 IMO.

I agree, I am constantly driving in the mountains of Maine where I go to school and having to downshift at 75 mph just to make it up a pretty small hill really upsets me. It was a big wakeup call coming from the amazing power of my 5.9L Dakota QC.

I luv my '02 truck, but no use for the 4.7. Mine decided to blow a couple of holes in the front two drivers side pistons and then broke the timing chain tensioner and so on. So if anybody knows where to get a real good deal on another 4.7 long block (because apparently without a major expense that is the engine I need to use), please let me know. Preferably one with the oil passage ways already modified to improve the oil flow issue. Oh, and when it was running - the mileage sucked. Best I ever got was around 14mpg on the highway with no load.

I love my 4.7............. i live in the hills and it pulls right up them and gets about 18 mpg's while its doing it. i can get 21 while on the interstate and 98 going down a long hill!

this truck was bought brand new in 02 so i know it has no mods that i haven't done to it which arent that extensive........... but some how this truck is quicker than any other 4.7 dodge i have been in.

I wish i had gone with the Hemi. Couldn't find one in my price range at the time though, so ill probably trade my truck in for one next year. I'm a huge fan of the Hemi, and I like big power a lot.

I like the 4.7 in my 08. Back in 07, I test drove a new one when I was truck shopping, and it felt like a dog compared to what was in the Chevy trucks at the time. I was happy last year when I test drove the one I have now.

It has been a while since I've made this poll, but I recently installed a SuperChips flashpaq tuner to my 4.7 and I've gotta say.. I am pretty happy with it. It added a little power but the best part is that it adjusts the shift schedule. My 2010 CrewCab can climb a hill on the highway, while maintaining the same speed, without downshifting (probably my biggest problem with my 4.7 right there).

Do I still wish I had a 5.7? Sure.. but I got a great deal on my 4.7 - but I'd say the tuner is a MUST.

I love everything about my truck. it has enough power to do what i need, i rarely pull anything. but the 235 hp is definitely too low in a v8. and i definitely wish the gas was a little better than what it is. i am getting around 15 mpgs total and if it is getting that bad of gas mileage it should have more power.

Krazyk- how much was the tuner and would it also work for an 07 4.7?

Got mine used of craigslist for $200. I am pretty sure the same one works for the 07 - but you can go to their website to verify.

And I agree.. 235hp from a 4.7L V8 AND 15mpg
