Default Idling promblems when the engine is cold

Hey all been a while since I've been on here. Just got back from Iraq and I started my 03 dodge up for the first time in six months and the idle didn't seem right and it threw a trouble code 440 general evap system failure. So I gave it a tune up, replaced the TPS the LDP and the evap sylenoid. None of that has helped at all in fact it seems worse. The problem only arises when I first start it up with the engine cold, the rpms drop to 500 or less and it acts like it wants to die. Once I put the gas down and ramp the rpms up it comes out of it. It never throws a code when it does this and I'm pretty much out of ideas on what it can be. If any of you have had this problem or know what is causing this the help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance.

I have the same issue with my '06. I have been trying to locate a replacement PCV valve since it is the cheapest fix. Nest is IAC valve. However my autoparts store can't seem to find the right PCV valve so I am hesitant to try an IAC valve since it is electrical and cannot be returned. I have cleaned my throttle body and ran two tanks worth of StarTron through it.

Pull your PCV valve and see if it rattles when shaken. If so it is still working. IAC valve is about $80+ for my truck, probably same for yours.

Let me know if you find the issue and solve it.

Good Luck

Any Dodge house should have a replacement PCV valve.

How is your battery? When the battery voltage drops low enough, the computer gets confused and the idle (among other things) doesn't work as it should. As a matter of fact, it won't idle at all without keeping your foot on the throttle. It takes a few miles/minutes to get back to normal idle. It is possible for the voltage to drop enough to confuse the computer and still have just enough to start the engine. I'd suggest you check the battery voltage in the morning BEFORE starting the engine.

yes agree with LEW battery on these causes many problems if you have another battery try replacing it had similar problem and it turned out to be the battery and you pcv valve should be right on the oil filler neck just turn counter clockwise and it should pull right out and got mine at autozone for like 4 dollars also check the hoses at the evap canister under the truck mine was cracked
