Default Lift for a future Ram 1500

Hello, i really need some help! I am wanting to buy a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L 2wd truck, completely stock. I want to lift it 10 inches. Do i need a complete set up plus a body lift or front and rear blocks...please help!! and I will need anywhere from 37'' tires to maybe 40'' tires. and a new gear ratio, so please help with a lot of detail!!

Do they even make that kind of lift for a 2WD?? Are you thinking a suspension lift/body lift combo? Regardless, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you put that much lift and that size tire on an 06 4.7L you will be lucky if it moves under it's own power. This is coming from a former owner of an 06. 4.7L. The 02-07 4.7L engines just don't have the oopmh. Mine was even geared 3.92 and still had difficulty maintaining 70 MPH on a slight grade without dropping a gear or sometimes two. It will help I guess that the truck you are looking at is 2wd and might help even more if it is a regular cab instead of quad but I still personally would not recommend it. My opinion is to take the pile of cash that you would spend on regearing the 4.7L and maybe even go with a slightly milder lift if you have to and buy a hemi truck.

Let me add that the 4.7L is a great little engine and in a 2WD regular cab truck in particular, especially if you could find one with the stock 3.92 gear, it would be more than sufficient I'm sure. Beyond that....well, I have already said what I thought about that above. Good luck!

^^ I agree, plus you will get like 6 mpg with 40's... CST has a 7" lift kit that seems to be popular with 2wd's (I dont know anything about it though, just that lots of people seem to run it), I would imagine you could add a 3 inch or so body lift on top of that. But like startquest said, it will be a dog with the big tires and brutal on fuel IMO

I missed the part about you not owning the truck yet...... if you can skip the 4.7, spend a few more bucks and get the hemi, or for what you would save not doing a body lift and going with 37's instead of 40's you could probably get the hemi...... or maybe check out some 04 or 05 hemi's....... but thats just MHO and what I would probably do in your situation
