It was below 70 degrees outside for my first 2 runs. And my tires are so tall I have no travtion problems. also I have 3.55 gear, The r/t has 4.10 or 4.11 gears, he might spin off the line a little.

Awesome! So much for 3.55's not gettin it done, very impressive mph! I think the time spent in 2nd and 3rd gear with the 3.55's are much better than the R/T pulling the top end of the 1/4 in 4th. To much rpm drop from 3rd to 4th.

That is pretty impressive for a fairly stock Express,
Get some smaller, lighter drag radials on 17" wheels will get you even better results. High 13's for sure.
I dropped half a second when I went to 28" tall 295/45R17 drag radials on my 10' RCSB 4x4 with 3.55's

There's no way an R/T is getting into 4th gear before the end of a quarter. (under full throttle with full size tires)
It might be about 500 RPM higher than the same truck with 3.55's, but both would still be in 3rd gear.

I've got friend with an R/T who dropped 3 tenths when he swapped his stock 275/60R20's to smaller 28" drag radials,
his effective gear ratio dropped to 4.83:1 and was not hitting 4th gear.

I've run my heavy 305/50R20 Terra Grappler's, stock 20's with 3.55's and got 14.4's (at 2500'+ DA)
But my best run on 28" Drag Radials drops my effective gear ratio to about 4.30:1 and I can pull 13.9's all day long, and never see 4th gear.
(rev's are just shy of 4700 RPM in 3rd gear going through the traps at 98 mph.)

another tip to get your 60' times down, a 2800 stall Edge Torque Converter ($500)
Mine hits 3000 rpm at launch and my heavy ass 4x4 is pulling 1.8's now. (was 2.1's and 2.2's with stock verter)

I'm going to swap in some 4.56's soon, and might be hitting 4th right at the line on my DR's (3rd will be at 5900rpm at the traps)

^yeah, my truck doesn't even make it out of 2nd gear in the 1/4. I have 3.55 and large AT tires though. My shift points are raised several hundred over stock too. I shift out of second just as I pass the gates. I think with stock tires and stock shift points it'd definitely go to 3rd on a pass. You'd have to be running a pretty wild ratio to get to 4th.

Express; 3.55 rear x 1.50 3rd gear ratio = 5.35. At 5800rpm 107mph with 33" tall tires not accounting for converter slip.
R/T; 4.10 rear x 1.50 3rd gear = 6.15. 5800rpm would give you 90mph with 32" tal tires again not allowing for converter slip.
You'd have to rev to 6800 to reach 106mph with the 4.10's in 3rd gear.

3rd gear ratio is 1 not 1.5

True, but there maybe a little confusion because of the model year comparison
pre-11 models 545RFE would only utilize 2nd prime in Tow Haul mode or manually shifting.
The evic has no digit 2nd pr so it actually reads "3", then incorrectly reads 4th when the truck is really in a 1:1 3rd gear ratio

The newer 11'-12' 65RFE is basically the same trans, but reprogrammed to use 2nd prime in the normal up shift sequence,
but it gets labelled as 3rd gear on the newer Rams evic and is a 1.5:1 ratio ....but you wont make to the end of the quarter in that gear
it will shift to 4th (1:1) long before the traps.

2nd prime (now 3rd gear in the 65RFE) was initially designed as a kick down "passing gear" because the drop from OD down to 2nd at 1.67 was too harsh from 0.75:1

545RFE:

in normal Drive mode:
1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=3rd – 1.00:1
4=4th – 0.75:1
5=5th – 0.67:1

When in ERS or Tow/Haul mode:
1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=2nd Prime – 1.50:1
4=3rd – 1.00:1
5=4th – 0.75:1

65RFE

1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=2nd Prime – 1.50:1
4=3rd – 1.00:1
5=4th – 0.75:1
6=5th - 0.67:1

...the 2nd prime shift is very short (1.67-1.50) shift and doesn't last very long, and rev's only drop to about 5k between shift)
so the truck, regardless of transmission will still be in a 1:1 at the traps.

But not with 3.55's. You still won't be using a 1:1 gear in the transmission.

congrats to all of you... just to put this into perspective you guys are running the same times my 1968 Road Runner ran stock. (383 ciu. 4 bbl- 3.55 rear gear) you guys are most likely pulling about 800 more pounds down the track than I was.

Yes it does, I've got video to prove it
