Thank you for a lot of help. I have been thinking about looking for a different unit. I do miss my satellite radio and my blue tooth phone. Maybe just need to find a "take out" that someone would like to dispose of. ;-)

i just put in my kenwood dnx9980hd 7in unit. It was very very tight. Had to cut out the plastic frame where the factory radio went and remove a metal brace that was towards the end of where the factory radio went. It was worth. I personally love how it looks

I just ordered the Avic Z130BT. I am scared to cut the plastic frame. If I don't cut it perfect it will look tacky right? I ready I need to cut about half an inch. What did you guys use to cut the plastic?

From the pics, it looks like the plastic that was trimmed is under the bezel, meaning you cant see it after the bezel is installed.

Correct me if im wrong...

I have a couple of questions regarding a stereo install. And since yours is similar to what im about to do, you may be the best answer for it.

1) According to my metra wiring harness, there is no switchable power in the stock harness, i know this to be true, so where (and how) do i use the fuse tap so i can find power?

2) is there, and if so how, do i run the illumination wire? (orange/white)

3) is this hack job true for ALL 2din installs?? i would hate to cut something that isnt needed when i have just over 1000km on my truck.

i have more q's but they are geared to speaker install.....i will address these elsewhere

thanks in advance
