Not to worry though I turned my 10' RCSB 4x4 with 3.55's into a 13 second beast with just intake, exhaust, tires and a tune.
Thanks for the info. It's impressive what these trucks can do. I can't wait until I can get a tuner for a 2012.

As a sidenote, I wonder how much drag the front differential and front driveshaft spinning all the time causes. Wish they came with manual hubs.

Hey man, I think I figured out whats goin on here. On a 2012 if you select 3rd on the trans stick you will get
1st 3.00
2nd 1.67 and 3rd 1.50.
The difference between 2nd and 3rd is about 10 mph. Using the calculations with 10% converter slip that would give you 87 in 2nd and 97 in 3rd. Correct me if I'm wrong but on a 10 or 11 Ram you can only access 2nd 1.50 only on a down shift (passing gear). So yes you would have been shifting to you're 3rd (my 4th) at about 87 mph well before the end of the 1/4 mile.

^Pretty sure both the 545rfe and the "new" transmission operate the same. I can upshift to 2nd prime (1.5) by selecting it manually in the ERS (electronic range selection) on the shifter.

I think if you wind it out (5800) in 2nd in my truck it will skip 3rd/1.5/2nd prime and go straight to 4th. But if you select 3rd (while in 2nd) well before redline it will grab 3rd/2nd prime. It really pulls nice after the shift, too bad it doesn't get another 5 mph or so out of it.

I used to use manual mode (or Tow/Haul mode) to catch the 2nd prime up shift,
Have since found out its BAD , and one of the weakest links in Dodge transmissions.

3G guys who race will tell you to avoid it at all cost if you want your trans to last.

I now just run 1-2-3, ET's are the same but my trap speed is down slightly now.

I'll bet I'll pick that back up with some more HP and headers next time out.

I track test the crap out of everything I do to my truck,
Have well over 200 passes in the last 2 years on her now.
and when the track is closed I use a back country road and my tuners

Here's an old vid, testing with my old BullyDog using 2nd prime

here's another...

Quite a bit more power and shifting at 6400 rpm with a Diablo 93 tune now

Traction problems ...check out the 2nd gear chirp on this one

Good info Black Ram, had no idea using 2nd prime for an upshift would hurt the tranny. And headers will be first on my list when shorties are available.

BBK and JBA both make 4G Hemi shorties, you can even get them in silver ceramic coated.

I got my JBA's yesterday, $555
pretty sure they would fit a 12' Hemi too.

BBK Shorties go for $399 (coated)

Do the Express's have limited slip or does it have to be ordered, and what are the gear ratio choices? thanks, been looking at one recently.
