Question ripping off overdrive unit from 46re

ok so im taking off od unit from trans tomorrow to replace the housing since mine was destroyed.. lol... but any advice or anything i should be aware of when taking it off? transfer case is already out. any info is appriciated. thanks andrew

Yea when you take the OD unit off, be careful when handling it because their won't be an intermediate shaft to keep the splines aligned and if they go out of alignment you will have to rebuild the OD unit in order to realign them, their is a alignment tool you would normally slip into the OD unit but it's not mandatory provided you are handle the unit with care.

got it off and got the guts in a new housing wasnt too bad except for all the mud and dirt fallin in my eyes lol.. thanks !
