Default Headers and X-Pipe

I wanna put some Dynatech headers on my 09 Ram 1500 and I was wondering whats the difference between the X-Pipe and Y-Pipe and What kind of muffler should I use If I put a X-Pipe?

Y pipe will be used if you want to run 1 muffler and with that you can get a single in single out or a single in dual out. where with an x pipe you will run 2 mufflers and the x pipe is just to equalized the pressures on the 2 banks of the motor. If you ran true duals you wont have the equalization.

what about an H for torque..

or go a different route...dual out to muffler and rotating a si/do muffler so it becomes di/so

equalization is like balancing the exhaust pulses between the 2 banks... H for tq, X for top end performance...

my thought was...the hemi likes free flowing exhaust BUT, it doesn't like wide open exhaust. True duals may be just a little too open unless you have lotsa mods.. I kinda did a hybrid where I dualed all the way to a 3"di/3.5"so 22" magnaflow.... i even thought this might be too openned but looking at my track times I'd say i did this about perfect... so much so that guys locally to me have redid their's identically to mine...and coincidentally, i have the best 1/4 time in norcal, guess who has the next 2 best times after mine...

you found Dynatechs to fit a 4th gen? I see their webiste lists the headers as '07-'09. I recommend calling them before ordering. the exhaust port changed from circular to a "D" shaped port with the 2009 motors. you don't want the circular shaped flanges. BBK just released their 4th gen shorties and the did it with a circular shaped port design. I found this out after my order was placed and headers were in transit. just so I could see for my own eyes I opened the box and placed the Ram stock exhaust manifold gasket over the BBKs. the stock gasket was about 1/8" bigger on both the left and right sides of each port.

to my knowledge the only 4th gen headers out right now that fit properly are American Racing longtubes and JBA shorties...and while they are really nice the ARHs are 3 times the cost of JBAs.
