nope..that's credited to engineering..but again, since it's mass produced, they are going to stay in a broad, safe range and not tap it's true potential and that's where we and all the 3rd party aftermarket mfg's come in... look at something as simple as exhaust, by changing just a muffler there is a gain.. why didn't dodge already do this? and this goes for alot of other things on our motors... heck, I dropped 3 seconds in the 1/4 mile by modding and I'm still on a stock block, stock crank, stock pistons... haven't you bought something like a pc and decide it's not fast enough and add more ramm to make it faster? why didn't they just do that from the git-go.

Default Hot air vs cold air vs $ = power how much?

Here are the two ways you can go. Spend $70 dollars and do the homemade intake cut stock tubing and insert 3 1/2" exhaust piping and add a filter eazy homemade intake, got more power!! But getting hot air. So i went this way k & n cai, cut the end off installed a 3 1/2" elbow for the larger throttle body, and ported out the hood over the cai. Lots of cold air and she really breaths

I have heard the roar. I had a K&N in my R/T Magnum, and yes it did roar but I didn't notice a HP gain until I loaded the Diablo 92 octane tune.

Didn't notice or it wasn't there? Butt Dyno's are notoriously inaccurate. It all comes down to filter area and system design. If the filter is big enough and there aren't any major sound deadening features built in to the stock box and tube assembly, an aftermarket isn't going to offer much. And from what I've read the LX setups must have been fairly good from the factory. Gains from CAIs seemed small.

Not exactly apples to apples there considering everything else you've done though. Would be interesting to retest w/ stock setup on to see how much of a restriction it is at your current mod level w/ the exhuast movin' freely now.

i just couldn't bring myself to cut up the stock airbox seeing how a new one would cost $109 if i didn't like the mod so i just puled out the snorkel instead, has anyone tried this on the new rams. the part i like about this is if i dont like it i can just put the snorkel back in.
