Question Bully Dog Triple GT programmer fuel gains???

I want to get one of these mostly for the fuel gains, although the performance setting will most likely be on a lot, LOL. Has anybody seen any increases in the MPG????

Hey 08Ramking I can't speak to the 08 but just put one in my 03 and let's just say I'm disappointed. There's a little bit more get up and go on performance but for economy I lose mpg. From what I gather it just de-tunes the engine so you can put cheap gas in it so I guess you save that way but I'm not sure. Also can't change the program on the fly that is for the diesels. But you do get to acsess tranny temp gauge that's all I really like about it. Oh and one more thing if you buy it from some one make sure they un-installed the program from there truck or you get a locked devise and have to pay $100 to unlock it. I learned the hard way hope this helps.

Oh and 1more thing if you choose to go ahead and get one make sure you have your truck on a battery charger if not they tend to freeze on the program install. If that happens just unplug the devise and try again had to do that the first time and no need to run power cable just use the switch on the obdll devise they give you. You'll have to turn it on and off manually but it's a clean install.

I installed one on my '10 Ram TRX4. I am running the 85+ octane tune and use 87 octane gas. My wife and I just drove from Toronto to Buffalo and back and averaged 13.7L/100km. That's 17.17mpg. I would say that is a decent gain in economy. Plus I can notice the performance increase as well. I have not tried the 91 octane tune yet, but I have heard that it will decrease the economy slightly.

I sure enjoy my BullyDog GT! And it will pay for itself in about 8 months in fuel savings.

Cheers,

EvilGrin

I have one currently and haven't noticed an increase in economy. There may be a slight power increase but i feel like i lost on gas milage under both the 85+ and 91 tunes. Trying to sell mine and go with either a diablosport or superchips.

I read up on these chips and for the most part they don't save gas. If they did Dodge would make them a priority. I would gladly put a chip in my 03 Hemi Ram if they really work for gas mileage. I don't care about additional power at this point.
