Default Sound System Progress and Questions

This past weekend I began to install my sound system, hoping to finish in a few weeks when my deck comes in. The truck has the RES with no alpine system.

Front Speakers: Kaption CLX692
Rear Speakers: Kaption CLX692
Dash: Kenwood KFC-T207 using provided crossovers.

The local sound shop that I deal with told me that my original 3.5" dash speakers should have crossovers already in the wiring so i shouldn't need to use the Kenwood crossovers, but the tweeters sounded horrible! I did end up using the crossovers that came with the tweeters. Is this true about the factory wiring??

My deck is a kenwood DDX419, I will be using a Kenwood Excelon x700-5 5-channel amp to power my door speakers and a single 12" slim sub. I havn't decided on the sub yet. What is everyones preferences for subs. The local shop carries these shalow mount subs: Pioneer Premier, Kenwood Excelon, and Kaption. Opinions everyone??

I would bypass those factory speakers if you have an aftermarket deck, speakers and amp. The cheap speakers are tweaked to their best possible sound by equalization done through the factory HU. If you have a 5 channel amp I would consider getting some decent components for the front and put the tweeters in the dash where the 3.5 inchers are. I would choose the Kenwood exelon sub just because you have the exelon deck

I have replaced all of the factory speakers in the truck, the crossovers I am referring to are for the Kenwood tweeters that i put in the dash, which replaced the factory
3.5" dash speakers.

Are you saying you replaced the factory full-range dash speakers with tweeters? If so, then you definitely need to use the provided crossovers.

yes that is exactly what i did, im going to make sure I tell my local shop that the dash speakers are infact full range speakers, not tweeters. It definitely would have saved me some time rewiring the crossovers in and finding a place to mount them
