I was an engineering major in college(civil engineering) and I knew a mechanical engineering major also. He ended up working for GM, and then Goodyear for several years. I've lost touch with him, but I know he was still working in the automotice field. Just be prepared for a lot of tough courses the first couple of years, its not an easy major, but I'm glad I stuck with it and got my degree.

I agree with what most everyone else said. Mechanical or Electrical engineering would be for getting a job in the automotive field. Computer/Information technology would be another choice that'd probably be slightly easier. Mechanical and electrical engineering are both very difficult programs. I also did construction engineering(civil) and it is probably the second easiest engineering degree(next to industrial) but it was still a bitch and was tough. Like ^ he said though, I'm glad I toughed it out, I shouldn't ever have to worry about having a job or money, I can go into so many fields.

If you go with an engineering degree, you aren't limited to automotive, so you'll pretty much always be able to find a job. You can even get jobs in business and management, etc. with engineering degrees.

Good luck!

first get all your ge's done, then if you haven't changed your mind, i would go with electrical engineering. many industries to choose from with this degree.

What College are you attending? There are some colleges that allow you to declare a major in automotive technology. I wouldn't want to suggest something like that if it weren't applicable. But if you could narrow the field a little.
