Default Receiver Hitch!

Well I just added a Class IV hitch to my 2012 Express. I bought a Curt Manufacturing from Amazon for $143.00 with free shipping. Arrived in 3 days! Installed it, and added a couple of extra bolts just to be nice and strong. Where I added them was on the factory bumper bracket on the side brackets there is a slotted hole, so I drilled through the new receiver and installed a bolt on each side.

Man you didnt even need to do that, the 13333 installs ON the crossmember in 10 minutes without a drill, and is $50 cheaper, but its only a CLIII, maybe you need the extra capacity? But cool mod anyway!

Default Hitch!

Yes, I am hoping in near future will need the class IV. I might be transferring my job to Vegas, so once housing settles out I am thinking of getting me a boat. I have always wanted a Baja Outlaw, so just figured if I am going to have a hitch assembly on the truck. It might as well be one that is rated for the max towing of the truck.

PS~I seen your other post about your service. I just like to say Thank you for your service. ^

I'm pretty sure the class III is rated for the max towing rating of a 1500. I have the Curt 13333 and I researched it heavily befoer buying the Class III.

Not sure, but on Curt Manufacturing website, the #13333 is only rated for 600 lbs. tongue and 6000 lbs towing!

Strange, they don't tell you on their website that it's good for 10k with a weight distributing hitch. This information is marked on the hitch itself. You probably won't like towing 10K behind a 1500 without a weight distributing hitch..

I would definately use a WDH, someone on here posted a video link to a Hanleey I believe looked like a real nice unit! The boat I would want is a 27 foot Baja which has a weight of about 4,400 lbs. So nothing to terrible for my truck.

Have to see what the future brings lol! Hopefully if all works out, I will be buying into the bottom of the worst housing market in the US or at least one of the worst. Plus the job I would be going to pays lot more, and no state taxes in Nevada. I also plan on spending less on my house in Vegas than I spent here in Oregon. But I will get a lot more house for less money!

Thanks for the replies! PS Thanks for your service!
