Default Steering...question.....

Not sure where this goes......topics are a bit confusing, but since its a general question...here it goes....

I'm going to replace my steering gearbox with the Borgeson. Other than the possibility that the steering wheel might not be symmetrical, if I don't touch anything other than the Pitman arm, why would I need an alignment?????

I plan on doing due diligence in making sure that when the steering wheel is in the "normal"/"neutral"/"central"/"whatever they call it" position, my wheels are pointed straight ahead.

Am I correct in my thinking that as long as i make sure everything is centered (steering wheel, steering box, wheels, and Pitman arm) I should be ok?????

I'm getting ready to change out my steering gear box as well as nearly every steering component. So, I'll need an alignment for sure, but, even though you will be careful during your install, you will affect the alignment in some fashion. New front tires are very expensive. A front end alignment is not.

Removing the pitman arm from the steering box where not affect the alignment. All adjustments happen at the tie-rods and the a-arms.

and that's the only thing being touched. if I was changing anything else, I'd definitely get an alignment. I'm about due for new tires soon so I'll just take care of it then.

Thanks!
