Default rough idle with hiss

I sometimes get a rough idle with a loud hiss when Im in park, not all the time, just once or twice a month, I notice theres kind of a gas fume smell too, it all goes away when I put it in drive and go, I've read a few of the threads on the rough idle but what about the hiss and gas fume smell? any ideas?

Sounds like it may be your IAC. Have you checked around the TB area with the engine running?

That's exactly what my IAC was doing before I replaced it...I was waiting for a small tornado to form over the hood the "hiss" was so loud. $40 and I can drive with the rear window open again without my eyes burning.

Then I'd start checking for a vacuum leak of the plenum gasket. Possibly the TPS but I don't think so.

My 5.9 still does this after a plenum change. Also changed IAC and PCV . It happens when first starting and when warm goes away. it lopes and sounds like its cammed. Also you hear that hissing sound through the cold air intake.

cloged cat? or maybe bad o2? or the air temp that's behind alt in the intake. I might lean twords air temp not reading right and keeping ASI opend to long thinking eng is running cold. case to mutch air fuel, bad smell and fouling out plugs. just a guess.
