Default seat conversion

Hi, I am from Colorado and just bought a 2012Ram 1500 reg cab with 40/20/40 cloth seat. The seat is not power and I would like to know if it is poss to change to a power seat. If I just buy the track with motors will my reg seat bolt on and work.also is the 2012 Ram pre wired for power seat.
Could I buy the track with motors and switch and would my existing seat bolt on and work, also is the 2012 pre wired under the seat for a power seat. any info greatly appreciated.

I too am planning on doing this, so please keep us posted on what you find out.

From previous cars most of the time the wiring harness is the same. If it's not for some reason, then usually you can just supply power to the the connections and use your own switches to control the directions.

I have been researching this a little bit. Looked at a parts place online that had diagrams. From what I see it looks like all the seats are the same on the bottom side and only the tracks are different. I am not sure about the pre existing wiring though. I was finally able to get my speakers installed yesterday that I have had for a month now and meant to look for pre existing wiring under the seat but forgot. If I remember correctly the power track was around $550. When I saw that I gave up searching, I can deal with the seat being too high till I can find a wrecked one to get parts out of.

After more research and talking to several auto electric shops I have about given up. Seems the 2012 Ram has a seat airbag and if anyone tries to remove it it could set off all other airbags doing about $5000 damage. I could not find one auto electric shop to touch it. also the 2012 is not prewired for power seat. Sorry to dash anyones hopes but if anyone knows different please let me know

If the battery is disconnected & a little time has passed to allow any residual electricity to drain off
I don't see how the air bags can be set off

I went online to 2012 Ramtrucks.com & Build your own

I picked the SPORT model standard cab & they do have the

Seating
Sport Cloth Bucket Seats
Power 10-Way Driver Seat
Power Lumbar Adjust
Behind-the-Seat Storage Bin

being as the motor is in the seat & so are the control buttons, all you need is Power to a point beneath the seat
If you find one that also has the 6 way power seat for the passenger side, you would need power over there too
